Unstable wind and sun can only guarantee security of supply with backup, which consists of wood chips, etc., which helps to clear the world's forests. The EU decided in 2009 that biomass should be considered CO2 neutral, but is 150% worse than coal when burned. Denmark still imports million of tons of wood/biomass from the Amazon, USA, Estonia, Ghana, etc. places that cover over 50% of renewable energy. 4 million people in the world die every year from the effects of biomass smoke.
