The collapse of the oceans will be catastrophic for the Nordic region

n 1988, the American professor of climate science at Columbia University James Hansen (1941-) warned a UN congressional committee against global warming due to the way we humans all over the world – but mostly in the rich countries – pollute and release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. He was more or less ignored with the help of lobbyists from the coal and oil industries who were more interested in their income than in the climate.
Today James Hansen is very concerned about what is happening in the oceans. The sleeping giant is the biggest threat, as the risk of the Atlantic ocean currents collapsing has increased due to increased warming caused by ice melting in the Arctic and Antarctic. It will increase the risk of a change in the Gulf Stream, which gives higher temperatures to the Nordic countries. A global warming could end with the opposite - an ice age for Denmark.
The AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation) is part of the Earth's ocean circulation system and plays a significant role in the climate. Ocean currents at the surface and in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean can change the weather, temperature and salinity of the water. The ocean currents circulate water around the Atlantic Ocean and transport warm water from the south to the cool regions in the north and ensure a mild climate in Denmark. When the AMOC was last switched off and there was no Gulf Stream to the Nordic areas, we had an ice age. The risk has been investigated and a forecast of a possible AMOC collapse is in 2050, but things are accelerating.
